Vito
Amodio was born in Monopoli (Bari -
Italy) in 1969.
Deeply
interested in photography shot his first
videos at the age of 15.
He
followed a regular course of studies
and devoted himself to his interests
- cinema, music and omnivorous reading,
mainly philosophy, art and literature
- attending courses and workshops in
shooting and directing for TV and in
movie editing.
In
1984 he started on to photograph with
Nikon FM2.
In
1986 he passed to professional video
as a screenwriter and director of photography
of a few short films; photographer for
various books, magazine and advertisements.
He
wrote a novel and several screenplays
for feature and medium length films.
After
working as assistant operator for Dante
Spinotti, in 1993-94 had his first experience
in TV as director for a local network,
making a TV magazine dealing with culture
and information.
In
1994 he wrote and directed the short
film “Time shores” based on a story
by Jack Finney, which was shown in various
Italian film festivals.
After
making five documentaries set in Italy
he wrote various screenplays and photographed
and directed several commercials for
various social campaigns.
In
2002 he made reportages in Arizona,
California, Nevada and New Mexico with
Mamiya 6x4.5.
In
2002 he wrote and directed his first
feature film “Unforgivable love”.
“The
lazy desperation” is his latest documentary
filmed in Albania in 2006.
In
2007 he edited the book: “Krzysztof
Kieslowski Photographer”.
In
2007 and 2008 he was among the photographers
who competed for World Press Photo;
photographs with Nikon D2h bodies or
film medium format.
He
is photojournalist for “Diario” and
“cannibali.it”.
He
works as freelance all the time.
At
the moment he is preparing a new feature
film.
